Nor'west dawn, Wanaka

Generally a clear indication to stay out of the mountains.

Mid January 2010; dawn promised bad weather but it didn't arrive — at least not that day.

Gorgeous colors.

I think of "King Lear" and Led Zeppelin's "Fool in the Rain" ...

Zhoen, Barbara: thanks. The early start provided this nice reward.

Love the contrast in distance/mass.

the immensity of the clouds contrasting with the distant mountains that we know are massive. Great contrast.

Do you print any of your pics?

Cheers
Christopher.

Christopher, thanks. I do print photos from time to time, although the expense and the problems with colour management (few of the local photo printers use proper colour management systems) mean I do it only rarely. This one, I suspect, would be particularly tricky.

oks - try PCL in Auckland. Most of the professional digital people go to them.

Their web is pcl.co.nz

Cheers,
Christopher.

Thanks Christopher. I know PCL and will keep them in mind. Cheers.

Amazing color. Do I thank you for it or do I pay homage to nature?!! (I thank you for capturing it and posting the photo.)

T. Clear: homage to nature is fine with me. Thanks for appreciating the photo, though :^)

Bad weather, but beautiful colours. Love the purples. I could look at a sky like that for hours.

Michael, the catch is that skies like that seldom last more than a few minutes. The colours change moment by moment.
