Remains of the day, Huaraz

From the patio outside my room in Huaraz, I've been able to enjoy these kinds of views. I'm not sure of the name of this mountain, but I never tire of seeing it in different light — here, just before nightfall.

[Update: I've just published a new post on Pohanginapete]
[Update 2: The mountain is Vallunaraju]

tempestuous skies! Lovely light. My eyes were drawn to the peak and away from the town.

Maureen, here in Huaraz, the only time my eyes aren't drawn to these mountains is when they're not visible — even when the light's dull and flat, if they're visible they're spectacular.
I'm spending an extra day here — the farmers are protesting and have blockaded the roads. I was booked on last night's bus to Lima, but it was cancelled. Booked for tonight; an extra day here isn't a hardship ;^)

Pete, hope you make it safely to Lima (and safely OUT of Lima!) Hasta pronto.

Maureen, thanks — I've made it safely to Lima (overnight, and slept most of the way) and leave this afternoon for a 15 hour bus journey to Arequipa. Starting to cover the ground, now. I miss Huaraz and my friends there (actually, no longer there now); miss the excellent cafes with real tea and great food; miss the lovely hostel (La Familia Meza); and in particular I miss those amazing mountains — among the most beautiful I've seen.
